POEMS/ To Do

To Do

1. Time to cast my crutch aside.
2. Let go the web that tangles me.
3. Turn my whisper to a roar.
4. Step off my iceberg, start to melt.
5. Become light, not shadow.
6. Paddle against the current.
7. Glisten like an Indigo Bunting on a hemlock branch.
8. Roar like the winds of hurricane.
9. Break through brick walls that shut me out.
10. Sprout where I am not wanted—
be the buckthorn in the meadow.

This poem will appear in Phyllis's forthcoming book Finding Ithaca.
