POEMS/ On the Day You Came Back

On the Day You Came Back
I rose at dawn
and went to sniff
the blueberry dew of
morning’s sky
and the dogs began
to dance, catching
the wind of joy
inside the bell
of my voice-
seeing me running
to greet you
with petals of sun
in my heart-
me tasting the smell
of you again
in moon born
apple trees
branches glimmering
with welcome
white in the dawn
